The Captain Contrada dell’Onda is one of the seventeen contrade of Siena, located in the Terzo of Città. Its emblem features a silver background with a royal-crowned dolphin swimming in a blue sea. Its colors are equal parts white and light blue. The motto of the contrada is “The color of the sky, the strength of the sea.”

The contrada holds the title of “Captain” because its militias stood guard at the Palazzo del Comune.

Its Terzo of belonging is Città. The military companies of the contrada are Casato di Sotto and San Salvadore. The allied contrade of Onda are Nicchio, Tartuca, and Valdimontone. The adversarial contrada of Onda is Torre. The patron saint of the contrada is the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, celebrated on July 2nd. The guild of the contrada is that of carpenters.

The Captain Contrada dell’Onda is one of the oldest contrade in Siena, with a long and rich history. The contrada is deeply cherished by its contradaioli, who are always ready to support it in its races at the Palio.
