The Contrada della Selva is one of the seventeen contrade of Siena, located in the Terzo di Città. Its emblem features a rhinoceros at the base of an oak tree with hunting tools, topped by a golden sun on a blue background, with the letter U (Umberto I of Italy) at the center. Its colors are orange and green, striped with white. The motto of the contrada is “Prima selvalta in campo,” which translates to “First wildness in the field.”
The contrada holds the title of Priora for hosting the first meeting of the Magistrato delle Contrade. Its affiliated Terzo is Città. The military companies associated with the contrada are Porta Salaia, San Giovanni, and Vallepiatta. The allied contrade of Selva are Chiocciola and Tartuca. The adversarial contrada to Selva is Aquila. The patron saint of the contrada is the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, celebrated on August 15. The titular feast is observed on the last Sunday of August. The guild of the contrada is that of weavers.
